I’m a renter. However, based on the increase in prices for real estate in Houston, it’s looking less likely that I will become an owner.

Houston’s average home price breaks $200,000-mark for first time
– reported by the Houston Business Journal

Houston home prices broke records in May, with the average single-family home price surpassing the $200,000 mark for the first time.

The average single-family home price for May was $204,005, up 8.2 percent over last year, according to statistics from the Houston Association of Realtors.

Emily Fox Gordon has published personal essays in Boulevard, Salmagundi, and The American Scholar, and her work has won two Pushcart Prizes. Admission for the festival, which benefits the Central Houston Civic Improvement, Inc., is $6.00 at the gate for adults; children 10 and under are free.

Chevy’s Freedom Over Texas with Fireworks Presented by Shell will be simulcast on KTRK-TV (ABC), Ch.13 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4th, and will be syndicated statewide on KTVT-TV (CBS) in Dallas, KEYE-TV (CBS) in Austin, KSAT-TV (ABC) in San Antonio, KXTS-TV (CBS) in Victoria, KXVA-TV (FOX) in Abilene, KIDY-TV (FOX) in San Angelo, KFOX-TV (FOX) in El Paso, KDF-TV (FOX) in Corpus Christi and KGBT-TV (CBS) in Harlingen. In addition, a Clear Channel radio station (to be announced) will simulcast the music medley specially choreographed for the fireworks spectacular.

Reliant Center’s Astrodome today opens its doors as the world’s largest indoor amusement park. The attraction will be available through the 4th of July.

qualify for free gas

An innovative advertising program is giving Houstonians an opportunity to get their gas paid. All they have to do is agree to use his vehicle as a mobile advertising venue. In other words, add a magnet advertising a service or program.

Ywaine Spiner is part of a pre-launch program from FreeGasHelp.com. It’s program that’s coming to the Houston area looking for more drivers willing to use their vehicles for advertising in exchange for free gas.

He met all the criteria, including driving more than 1,000 miles a week.

He has had the sign for about two weeks. His first gas card comes at the end of the month.

Spiner earns about $27 a month, which equals out to more than $300 a year.

Four to six weeks before entire program comes to Houston, FreeGasHelp.com is working with a couple a car dealerships for a location site.

They are looking to sign up about 500 drivers who met the criteria and are still enrolling people in the Houston-area before the pre-launch.
